Bring the sonic performance of the MB42 up to the level of the MB42X with this DIY crossover upgrade kit. Each kit comes with two crossover units, speaker wire terminal cups, foam wire-wrap strips, and a hex wrench.

Designed as a drop-in upgrade to the MB42, this DIY crossover kit is pre-assembled, requires no soldering. A 3mm hex key is needed and is not included. An illustrated instruction sheet provides step-by-step guidance on the installation procedure.

The MB42X crossover is the product of a rigorous design process, perfectly formulated to unleash optimal performance from the MB42. Its design incorporates a Zobel impedance network, full 18dB/octave alignment for the woofer and tweeter.

With the crossover in place, the MB42 offers dramatically improved upper midrange and treble. Vocal clarity, especially for female singers, is significantly enhanced. Treble performance is much smoother and a touch brighter. Woofer breakup modes and inter-driver phase cancellation are both effectively controlled. With this crossover in place, the MB42 becomes an even more of a sensational value in home audio than it already is.

I used these crossovers to upgrade a pair of Realistic Minimus-7Ws. The Minimus had a very rudimentary high pass crossover for the tweeter only. The Micca crossovers operate by sending low frequencies only to the woofers and high notes only to the tweeters. The difference in sound--lower distortion, an overall cleaner sound and enhanced soundstage--was quite noticeable. I give Micca high marks for providing a product that offers a significant improvement in sound quality at an extremely reasonable price point.

I'm no audio expert but these upgrades make the MB42's sound so much better all around...
lows and Highs. I followed allong with a YouTube video for installation an it was a breeze!

I used these well built crossover circuits with altogether different speakers than the intended MB42's. My speakers sound great! I used OSD IW620 speakers - (New Speakers - 6.5" Carbon-Filled Polypropylene Woofer, 1/2" PEI Dome Tweeter, 100 Watt, Frequency Response: 60Hz to 22kHz, 8 Ohm 88dB Sensitivity). Only $31 from the OSD website.

Well worth the upgrade. Anyone thinking about it just go for it. Good instructions, and if you can use a screwdriver or in this case a allen hex wrench which is included you should have no problem.

It took me about an hour you just have to be careful handling the speakers, and connecting the wires the right way. One tip is to keep the screws away from the tweeter dust cap because the magnet will pull them in. The sound is much more refined and natural.

There are reviews on the internet way above my description on the improvement. The micca store was very fast with processing and shipping. The crossovers were well packed in a box and padded envelope.
