Keeping in mind that this a ultra portable device, the sound is very good. Clear mids and highs, does not suffer from usual "tinny" sound found in speakers of similar size. As expected, bass response doesn't exist. Volume is also good with little distortion at max levels.
The built-in MP3 player is typical chinese. Not the easiest to navigate, but audio quality is very good. If you mostly listen to entire albums vs. jumping around, you'll be fine. Preset EQ and WOW settings allow for audio tuning . Note that these audio adjustments only apply to the built-in MP3 player, not the AUX input.
Construction of the unit seems quite solid. Time will tell as I carry my speakers in my backpack, which goes with me everywhere.
I do have a few suggestions for future models. It should have the AUX chord built into the case. Every ultra-portable speaker I've seen has this. This is also true with the snap-in stand. Again, incorporate it into the case. And lastly, include a simple cloth carry bag, being that it has a display.
Just for its audio quality via the AUX port, its worth 40 bucks. Throw in the built-in MP3 player, 2 Gb of storage, internal battery and USB power option, and you have a steal of a deal.
